For my hair to be cultural appropriation, dreadlocks would have to belong to a single culture other than my own. They don’t. Dreadlocks have been found in every culture around the world for centuries. If not thousands of years.
It’s not difficult to figure out that dreadlocks aren’t cultural appropriation. Thanks to the internet, the world’s history is at our fingertips.

I’ve shared my thoughts about this in the past.
Simply put, no culture owns matted hair. You can easily browse the internet and find loads of resources talking about the various origins of dreadlocks. Not only that, but any hair that isn’t combed will form knots and become matted.
